For some reason when ever i uninstall a program or delete a file, it doesn't free up space. i have a 80gb (74.5) hd and it says i only have 2.2gb left. I uninstalled at least 8gb of files and it still said i had 2.2gb left.

if i highlight all my files on the hd and it says 63.9gb.

Henry,

Can you try the following areas

A)It is probably a virus playing itself around.Use a good antivirus software

B)Go to this site and download the utility .It will show where the disk space is been eaten up http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Utilities/Disk_Analysis_Utilities/DiskSize.html

C)SWAP files tend to take a large amount of disk space. You can tell the difference if you are having low RAM modules or the disk in not defragmented properly.

D)Backup your data and format your system.

E)Try atleast using an ANTISPYWARE like TrendMicro or Microsoft Antispyware.Sometime spywares creates the same file twice again ang again thus losing disk space.Virus also plays a important role in this case.Use TrendMicro 2006,30 Day download or NOD32.

Hope the following areas will help you out.

Take care.Post your reply!

Check your recycle bin... your drive space is not fully recovered until the bin is empty.

And if you have restore on it will record a restore point when you uninstall a program. Restore points use up a fair bit of space... clear all but the latest restore points.
