Im looking for a good fast non cheap printer for my schoolwork. Im going to be a teacher, and I need to purchase a printer so it will be convenient to me instead of having to run to the computer lab everytime i need something. Any suggestions?

I switched from an ink jet printer to a HP color laser a couple years ago, and I am very happy with it.

It's an HP2550, but I think I would suggest getting a newer model. I was mostly suggesting a laser printer and not a particular model or manufacturer.

(Edit) The lasers have one drawback, they are kinda noisy.

it wouldnt matter to me that much if its noisy. I just want a fast printing printer that doesnt pause 900 times while printing, and dont need to change cartridges every few days

hp all the way yes there cartridges are more expensive in hp but you get more in them not only volume wise but with the inkjets you get the whole head and other smart bits in them.
if you dont know the heads the bit that touches so wears out quikly. so if that goes its a new printer but with hp inkjets its a new catridge so quality is always top notch

hp printers are also smarter. they have on board processors and memory so when you hit print the file gets fired off to them. so no stupid printer driver boggin your computer down as it drip feeds(may causes the pauses) the info to the printer. unlike lexmark which make stupid printers that have software that slows your pc down and is genraly flaky. another upshoot of the hp printer is there the industrial standard so you can use default printer drivers and they work. no need to install just print to default and away it goes.

only thing im going to say is your a teacher and i presume have large bundles of paper piled on shelves that are stored. if this is a case id suggest ink. because the presure from the paper will cause the laser print to transfer to the other sheet it is attached too. this will take about 2 years to happen but when it does youll be hopping mad. oh and the acetate sheets or the plastic folders seam to cause this more. also if your in a school in the uk they use the stupid storage heaters that get really hot at night and store the heat. the heat from these quicken the process if stored too close and they are stacked.
but the choice is up to you. although if you print off 10-100 sheets of paper at a time go for the laser if you print of 1-10 go for ink. this is due to time taken per sheet. the ink is slower but the laser has to warm up first so if its a few sheets the ink is quicker although when you get into more than 10 sheets the laser comes into its own and really rattles them off.

i do have a guilty admition though my knowledge of hp printers is about 12 years old since i havent had a new one in that time. they just seam to run and run and run. i do have uptdate knowlege of lexmark as my freinds and family have got them and my laptop came with a free lexmark printer. they where all suckered in with the low low price or cash back deals but are now swearing at quality(NOT BY) and cost of refilling compaired to other printers.

all text needs typos. There there for the reader to find,to distract them from the total lack of content.
google it! wasnt the answer to the question i asked so dont be dense and give me that repl

Definately go Laser. If color is not normally necessary you can get Black Laser printers for cheap. You could use the computer lab when you needed to print color. If most of what you print has some color then you should look at the cost per sheet comparisions.

How many copies per week would you need to print?

10 or 15 pages a week is nothing. If that is all you print, and you need color, then you may want to stay with an inkjet. If you do, make sure to get one that has individual color tanks as well as black.
