I have the same mouse. I used a USB to PS/2 adapter, and then plugged it into the standard ps/2 port. It has worked flawlessly. I hope this helps--if it is an option.

I have several wireless optical mice in my company. When I bought them, the instructions said to avoid minor problems, use the ps/2 port whenever possible.

The only difference between USB and PS/2 is speed. When playing games, you'll get a little lag with PS/2 mice (sometimes) and USB is faster. If you dont game, just get a PS/2 mouse, less problems.
Also, check the device manager and see if there are any problems with Hardware/Driver compatability.
