Folks, I'm looking for a device that will physically lock a flash drive in a USB port to prevent removal. I've Googled til my fingers bleed, but all I can find is USB port locks and flash drives that have built-in Security, which isn't what I need.

Any help, please? Much appreciated.

Jennifer

I am guessing you don't just want the flash drive secure but also don't want it pulled from the port. Is that correct?

Thanks for the input, guys. All I need/require is a device for a USB flash device. The USB device is a remote pickup for a projector. Even with the device with the cable, the users can still remove the pickup from the laptop, and that's what needs to be prevented.

OTH, right... The device needs to stay in the port...

jefro, thanks. That would work, but Administrators will need to be able to remove the device. :)

I don't see how they are going to get that out if they glue it in. I used it before.

Guess you could epoxy a keychain on it to the computer. Ugly but may work.

Tell the dotes that if they don't return the key thingy they will be buying a new one.

Jennifer, did you look at those locking devices that cover floppy and optical drives? On e of those may be adaptable to cover a USB device in at least some rear ports. Appears a bracket screws to the case and then the locking part slides over the bracket so the screws aren't accessable. Could use one of the longer ones going sidways from the edge of the case.

I did. I've emailed a few companies to see if they make what I'm looking for.

Thanks.
