have coserv dsl and linksys router. with AIM me and my friend are tyring to get files from each other.. it won't let us cuz of the firewall in the router. i turned off the router on xp.. and even tried to do the fowarding port of 5190 but still unable to do it. Can anyone tell me how to completely turn off the routers firewall......

I do not think you can turn off the firewall in the linksys.
What program are you using to transfer files? Thier may be other ports you need to forward to your PC on the router.

yes i did the dmz host in the router configuration. ok let me rephrase. i can send files out to ppl that don't have routers. but with ppl with routers i can't. me and a friend have the same router. and both of us did the same thing in the configuation. but we cant send file to each other. we are using aol instant messenger. i hope i am asking the right question. basically i cant send files to him. we both have linksys router
