have coserv dsl and linksys router. with AIM me and my friend are tyring to get files from each other.. it won't let us cuz of the firewall in the router. i turned off the router on xp.. and even tried to do the fowarding port of 5190 but still unable to do it. Can anyone tell me how to completely turn off the routers firewall......

the reason is that you are behind a firewall that does not let you connect to the ip addresses of other computers and share information. to disable this firewall security,type the following commands after you have entered your router's interface in hyperterminal >enable password >hostname >configure terminal >disable firewall >sh ip address this will allow you to access all files mail me for more info

I am having the same problem with the Linksys rounter, but my rounter does not have a firewall. My rounter uses NAT to block internal ip out to public, so I can not direct connect with anyone on AIM. (but I am able to accept a request for direct connect) Help thanks
