Hope to find some help. I have a Dell Ultrasharp monitor with a Radeon 9700 Pro display adaptor. During start up (when the startup info shows on the monitor) everything is fine. Then when windows xp starts running I'll get verticle lines and dots across the screen. My driver is updated. I've trouble shot the monitor and the adaptor and it is fine. I've reduced the color quality and and turned off the hardware accleration, but none of this has eliminated the problem. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

Try rollling back the drivers to an earlier det or back to VGA mode to see if the issue goes away. Could be a failing Graphics chip.

Could be overheating, could be the card isn't getting enough power. I believe the 9700Pro requires an aux power connection? Make sure the 4-pin plug is connected & that the cooling fan is working & not all clogged with dust.
