lines on screen need help!

i have winME every once in a while ny computer screen goes white with lines on it. i have to restart my computer every time this happens. it starts out being every once in a while the gets so close together that my computer barely has time to boot up before it happens again. i thought that it was my monitor so i changed monitors. it stopped for a while now it is doing it again. please help!

Are you using onboard video or a video card? If it's a video card you could try to reseat it and see if it helps. If it's onboard then see if you can borrow a video card and try it.

I am having the similar problem. I am horizaltal lines across my screen that doesn't go away. I wish I could help you, if you find out how to fix it, let me know.

Do you by any chance have speakers next to your monitor? If they are not magnetically shielded that may also be some of the problem.

I have replaced a few video cards for causing horizontal lines or bands on the monitor. If another monitor does the same thing then it is the card. Is it an onboard video or a PCI or AGP card? If it is still in warranty contact the vendor for a replacement. Good luck
