A set of white lines has appeared at the top of my monitor. Each line is only a few pixels wide and stretches horizontally across the entire screen. There is about 0.25" between each of the lines and they cover the top 1/4 of the screen. The monitor & computer are less than a year old. Any ideas? I'm thinking maybe a bad vid card, but would hope not on a fairly new system.

a quick way to see if its your vid card is to boot into safe mode - press f8 when you here the beep during boot and select safe mode in the menu. If the lines go away after win loads then its your vid card driver or maybe the card itself. Also make sure the cable from monitor is tight to pc. If lines go away during safe mode boot then monitor(again make sure connections are tight).

ive seen that before, with a geforce4 that had insufficient cooling. borrow a nother fan, if you can a pci fan, and stick in closest pci slot to the agp slot. note: it might not work right away, let the system run for a bit, and restart a few times to test.

Sorry guys but that is a capacitor on the chassis of the monitor that as become faulty(leaking) causing the lines at the top.
Note: Around the vertical ic .
