LG gsa-h22n won't burn cd's ONLY

This burner will burn dvds, read cds and dvds but it will not under any circumstances burn cds. This thing worked in the past and all lookes good from the connectors.

How old is the unit? Burning lasers have a limited life and yours might be at the end. I believe they use a different laser for CD & DVD so it would not be unheard of for one to work while the other has failed.
