I'm having a box built, and the guy uses LG drives. He wants to use an LG GH20HS10 20X DVD-RW. Are they OK?

I don't have any first hand experience with that brand but I remember others here having problems with them. All brands have some dogs and maybe what I read others post was about a dog model and overall the brand is OK.
I don't believe LG makes any of their own drives, I could be wrong about that.
That said, you can buy a burner at newegg.com for under $30 all day and even cheaper when on sale. So, they are cheap enough not to be concerned about them.

I just bought an LG SATA 22X DVD burner from Newegg for $21 (free shipping) to replace a tired AOpen IDE 16X DVD burner. I installed it & tested it but can't give you any type of review as to how well it works or longevity yet. Couldn't beat the price though. Optical drives are generally considered to be "throw away" items.
