Subject: LG display with new PC aspect ratio
OS: winxp
CPU/Ram: Athlon1800/750MB
Comment:
My LG display connected to my new PC has the aspect ratio distorted.

Fonts and people now look very tall.I tried changing the screen resolutions but at all setting from low 400 to 1800, the image is always tall.

is there an aspect ratio control somewhere?

I'll just add that the top and bottom of the visible window on the monitor display seems correct and not chopped off or pinched at the sides?

Any help welcome.
Bye
Fred

In the old computer I didn't have the Nvidia GeForce8600GT

You should try running at whatever the native resolution is for your display. If that setting is not available you may need to update the graphics drivers.

If the aspect ratios of the image and screen are not the same then the display will be distorted if you attempt to fill the screen. The best thing would be display drivers that allow black borders.

Thanks chaps for the advice and I tried but with little success this time anyway.

Somewhere along the way the Nvidia card has taken control of some of the menu choices in the LG menu system.

I can control brightness, Set refresh frequency but..., and this is the menu item I wanted to fiddle with,....
the horizontal width and the vertical width control is selectable as a menu item but they are not alterable.

The LG monitor menu item shows two screen position bars with scales and the present settings are:-
Horizontal 36
Vertical 52

We need some gen on the way the Nvidia is interacting with the LG monitor menu system and where to tweak.

I've got my thinking cap on...
Bye
Fred
