Have ensured that Direct X 8.1 or higher is installed. Drive is master with end ide plugged in. Have attempted to update firmware no success. OS is XP PRO. Mobo.Asus P4SGL-VM. Celeron 2G CPU. 512MB 2100 DDR. 40G WD HDD. The LG 4040B will read everything, will write to CDR/RW will not write to any DVD format. This is a Multiformat device.
