Hi. I reveived a lexmark z647 form a friend and the problem he has is that the printer kinda locked up after a paper jam. When you plug it in the power socket the power button begins flickering and wont stop. The printer won't turn off or do anything. I plug it to my PC but although its recognized by windows (which asks me for the driver) when the driver installation process tries to find it via usb cable it just can't. Does anyone know how to reset this terrible printer? or any software I can try? Thanks

The printer appears to be still jammed. You have to remove all the pieces of a paper in the paper path.

Thanks for your reply. I have disassembled the printer but there is no paper whatsoever still jammed. There is a little sensor that seems to tell the printer if there is paper laded and it appears to be ok and the problem persists. I think a printer reset is the way to go but I haven't found anything on the net yet.

Check the rollers and the print head carriage for smooth movement, The gears may be stripped or a belt jumped a pulley.

Well I've checked everything and its OK. The same story. Before plugging the printer I moved the cartridge holder to the middle and after plugging the printer it moved the holder to the right (off position so to speak). I tried plugging it with cartridges in or not to no avail...
