My Lexmark Z42 printer is not printing color, but is printing black. The cartridge is just a couple months old and is almost to the full line. It was printing one day and then stopped the next day. I tried reinstalling the driver, but it still doesn't work. I just can't figure it out. Can anyone help me please? Thank you, Nina
Are you certain that the cartridge has supplies of the coloured inks?
If you have run all the printer's cleaning and/or test procedures, and no colour appears (during test printing) it sounds like a fault with the printer.
The problem is that because printers are so cheap it is almost certainly beyond economical repair.
What can be tried is blasting around the print head(s) using a spray can of cleaning alchohol to see if anything frees up.
Hi Nina, I have had similiar problems with the Z42 cartridges so don't feel alone in this problem. Have you tried the printer with another color cartridge? If you can and it works, then the old cartridge has a problem. If the new one works, then I would call Lexmark and talk to them about the problem. I have had numerous problems with the Z42-43 color cartridges and Lexmark has replaced them free of charge several times. What Lexmark doesn't tell you is that there should be expiration dates on their cartridges! I was told by them that they have a short shelve life!! My brother-in-law lives in the desert of AZ and he has to put his Lexmark Z23 cartridges in a plastic bag with a wet sponge and only put them in the printer when he wants to print something. The low humidity in AZ dries out the ink jets!!! just a thought, XDon
