I never tried it, but can a better Video Card improve the Clarity of the Lettering on a 1 Year OLD 19" LCD Monitor? The Device Mgr. says: NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model64/64Pro
Trying an other Monitor is out. Replaced the old one because the Mrs. didn't like the Heat it developed.

Changing screen resolution may help.

I recently bought a Viewsonic LCD monitor and they recommended an optimal screen resolution setting.

It doesn't have much to do with your video card or it's drivers.
All LCD monitors have a "Native Resolution" at which the LCD display will look the best. The display will not look as good in other resolutions, and a frequent symptom is the type fonts in Windows will not look as good as they do in the "Native" resolution. If your LCD monitor is a better brand such as Samsung, it may still look pretty good in other resolutions, but lesser brands may not look so good.

A solution for any LCD monitor is to use a feature built into XP:
Turn on Clear Type in Windows XP - makes type on LCD screens look clearer

If you want your display to look the best it can in all resolutions, conventional CRT monitors are much better at that.

Yup!

Two very good key points.

Native resolution & ClearType - can't go wrong with that. I'll add font selection to that too, some font are just better on the eyes than others.

My favorites include, Tahoma, Verdana, Calibri, Segoe UI, Tw Cen MT & Times New Roman (official stuff), but not all font are native to XP.
