I have an old MiTac MiNote 7521 laptop running Win XP. Yesterday, out of the blue, while I was trying to power it up, the screen went blank White. It would flicker black to white a few times then stay at white. The computer seems to start up fine, and works perfectly when hooked up to another monitor. But the on-board LCD stays white, and unuseable.
I'm not sure if it is actually the LCD itself because it does at least light up, and stay white. Could it possibly be the inverter or circuit board the LCD plugs into?
If so, where could I find a part list for the computer? again, its a MiTac Minote 7521 laptop and no parts are labled.
Thanks

It is definitely not the inverter, otherwise the screen could be black, not white. The inverter provides power for the back light. As the screen is white, the backlight is obviously working fine.
However, it could still be the monitor itself not correctly processing the video signals from the on-board video. The fact that an external monitor works rule out the on-board video.

it might be a break in the cable to the monitor. everytime the lid is opened/closed this cable flexes and they dont always last forever.
if you move the lid up and down a bit can you make the screen change? if so, it would indicate a cable fault to the screen

It was the ribbon cable behind the LCD itself...reconnected it and works fine!
Thanks
