LCD repair or replace- I'M DESPERAT

I have a ibm 600e thinkpad and the lcd went black, someone offered to help and cracked the middle [looks like screen is cracked, when it flashes on and goes then goes black, but the actual screen is not]crystal like material, not sure of the exact name it is between the front screen and back panel. Can anyone PLEASE tell me what is the cheapest way to to restore my lcd screen? A new LCD? used parts? where can i find used parts? Please HELP ME , i hate being tied to this huge monitor.. i like to relax!!

Chances are it's history. I know on most LCD's the only option is to replace it. I would take it to a local guy and see what they tell you. They will have a line on a fix for you.

I have replaced numerous Laptop screens for friends and so forth. I regret to inform you that your screen is now toast. Your original problem was either the backlight bulb was bad or the power cable from the mobo to the power inverter for the backlight was damaged. You might be able to find some good deals on ebay. I have found several good deals on there for friends. Managed to get several back up a running for under $200.00. Good luck!

I believe dave02 is correct. At an auction site try to find a parts machine that matches yours for real cheap. If you can't find a parts computer a display is the only way out. Doing the leg work yourself will minimize the down time of your machine.
