Comment:

i just bought a new system and a new NEC MultiSync LCD 1765 monitor. upon my first day of gaming i started to see horisontal flickering lines randomly appear. sometimes the LCD would work perfectly, out of nowhere it starts flickering, randomly on either the top half or the bottom half.
i'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with my video card because tried disconnecting the LCD from the computer when it starts to flicker, and it still does even after it's disconnected from the video card
i was wondering if it's some common LCD thing has to do with operating temperature or is it a defect
please help, as i'm very annoyed by the flicking while typing this post!

I don't know much about LCDs but what I do know is that they must be put into its Native Resolution. If its designed to be in 1024x768 - LEAVE IT THERE. Don't raise or lower it or else you may have problems. I could be wrong but this is what I was told.

actually i've heard that about LCD too, but it's not the case i think, because my display resolution is at my monitor's native resolution, i've even tuned my display card's refresh rate to my LCD's native rate
still flickering though, from time to time

something to add: the flickering doesn't appear on black or white, ever.

its my understanding that if xp auto detects the monitor you cannot adjust the resolution above what is supported. Thats the case with mine anyway i cannot go above 1280x1024. Same applies with the refresh rate cannot go over 75 mhz.

I would suggest that if it still flickers after you have unplugged you video card then its deffinatly faulty. Take it back.
