LCD monitor problem. It shuts off intermittently. System has onboard video. No agp slots. I put in a good pci video card. It worked great for awhile. System had a couple of viruses and some spyware. Monitor stayed on while I checked system with AVG and AntiSpyware(1 1/2 hours). Re-started system and monitor went black after boot up. Took video card out and changed back to onboard video. Same results. I unplugged connection to back of monitor. Monitor would stay on for a few seconds and then slowly fade to black. I unplugged power adapter from surge suppressor and plugged it back in. Same results. Plugged power adapter directly into wall socket. Same results. I changed bios settings for video when needed. Faulty power adapter? That's my guess. Is there a way to check the adapter with a multimeter? Thanks in advance for any help.

It sounds like the monitor is faulty. Try it connected to another system (go to a friend/neighbour) and see if it works.

I hope your LCD is still under waranty :D

It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice...
