I am thinking about replacing my old CRT monitor with an LCD type. What specs should I look at closely? I wont be gaming, nor will I do much video work, just typical email, surfing, etc. Also, will an LCD monitor handle displaying lower resolutions ok? Which brnads are typically reliable yet not expensive, Viewsonic for one? Thnx.

response time under 16ms if u wanna do some gaming
wether or not it hase dvi or analog (dvi is better but analog works fine cheaper too)
contrast ratio nothing below 1:400 or it gets yukkey
and ofcorse size lcd's have a native resalution whitch is 1280x1024 on both 17" and 19" so thinkgs look blurry and not good that arint desplayd at the native resalution
so 17" look a bit nicer but there not 19"
samsung, benQ are some brands u might wanna look at they may be a bit more expencive but i have bought 2 samsung lcd monitors recently and i have no problem with them
hope that helps

I would buy the one that is on sale, I have a LiquidVideo 17" works great sharpe as can be and is 2 1/2 years old I love it and it was on sale with rebates for 199.oo, what I did was went to the store where they had them displayed and looked at the sharpness of each one this one was the same as the expensive ones or as good, my sister has a Samsung that just went out and was newer than mine and I know Samsung is suppose to be good, but think you can get lemons in just about any brand, I bought a printer at Comp USA for 139.00 it was a HP and great printing, at the same time I bought replacement insurance for 19.00 1 1/2 year later I was printing something and my electricity went out for a couple of hours, when It came back on the printer was shot, they replaced it for free with a upgraded one, so you may think of insurance too.
