Hello,

Recently my monitor "automatically" started to show up "contrast" and luminosity menus, however, I was able to press the exit button and they went away. But since 2 days, those menus make the monitor "stuck" and all I can do is to turn it off by taking off the power (turning off the power switch on the outlet) as monitor fails to respond to any button.

Then, it fails to start and I have to take the power plug out many times to get it working again. I don't know if it's the vibration that displaces/puts in place some components in the LCD monitor.

Anyways, the monitor went out of warranty 6 months ago as it was bought in June, 2005 and also from another country. It's a BenQ FP767-12 LCD monitor and i am not sure what has gone wrong.

At first, I thought it would have some 'battery' like a CMOS battery in mobos which wasn't able to store the contrast/brightness settings and was asking for it again and again. However, I don't think it's related to that when my monitor failed to start up at all today after I turned it off last night.

Any ideas? I hope it's not gone for good...

Ok, details:

- I took the plug and replugged (it was powered ON from power outlet) -- didn't work

- I turned off the power button on power outlet, took out the power plug from monitor and plugged in again. Turned on the power and -- didn't work

- I turned off the computer, turned off all power, took out the plug from monitor and replugged it.. Turned on everything and pressed the "power on" button of monitor before turning on the computer. And IT WORKED!!

Bah ... that's weird!

ok well here's something new .... I changed the graphic card and that luminosity and contrast stuff disappeared.

But yesterday i didn't turn off the monitor from power outlet and nor from it's power button, it was on sleep mode. and today it's not starting up ... no matter what i do it just doesn't start. I can hear fan in the monitor but pressing any button has no effect.

any idea please?
