Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, 3 GHz / 759 MB
If I set the screen resolutions to 800x600 the desktop does not fill the full screen like a standard crt monitor. Instead there is 2 inch black border around the desktop.

My graphics card is : RADEON 7000 SERIES (64 MB)
My flat screen is : Gateway FPD1500

I have tryied both the standard winxp resolution setting and the Catalyst software, but in both case the screen in not filled out.

Any ideas as what to do or is this normal if you do not use 1023x 768?

With LCD screens it is best to use the native resolution of the screen. Anything else results in issues such as the one you have.

If the native resolution is 1024 x 768, that's what you should be using. If you're not happy with the size of the desktop icons & text, change the DPI setting to Large size (120 DPI).
