Hello,

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 915n, and often turn the screen off when I just have music playing in the back ground and such so i don't run up the life time on my monitor, (since they will burn out after so many hours of use). however, I started thinking about it and am wondering if turning the lcd monitor off and on alot, leaving short periods of time inbetween turning off and on, can damage the lcd screen. It was just a thought I had, so i don't have any evidence that backs it up.

I do notice that the picture is not very bright when i first turn on the power, I am guessing that it is just warming up. as the picture gets brighter over time.

Thanks for any reading!

George

Why not just adjust the power settings so the monitor turns off after a specified number of minutes of inactivity?? Will not wear out your on/off button and will not "use up" any pixel "lifetime".

WILL POST FOR FOOD.

Zenith, Thank you for the reply.

That is good to hear. It was a $356 monitor and I would hate to have it wear out on me.

In reply to the idea about switching the power settings -- I don't like to have my monitor turn off because it is annoying. I often find that when i had it do that, i couldn't "wake" it up again. and had to restart. So i just leave my settings on "Always On" now.

Thanks for your help!
