lcd burn-in

is it possible to cause burn-in on a laptop LCD display? note that its an older laptop display, probably from around 1996 or so.

Yes, yes yes. LCD screens can burn in, they drop pixels, the screen is too dim, the images ghost and trail when they move...I hate LCD screens. No choice for a laptop, but an old one like that is probably on the way to PC heaven. Time for an upgrade.

No, no, no, LCD screens do not burn in. The backlight can become dim but that's it, that's not burn in.

dropping pixels is not burn in, smearing or blurring is not burn in.

In essence, they can wear out due to dim backlighting but lets get the terminology right, they don't burn in.
