Laptop won't turn on.

OS: XP home
CPU/Ram: 512 MB RAM

My laptop won't turn on. There is power flowing to the computer when I plug it in, but when i hit the power button, it stops and nothing happens. It won't boot on just batter power either. I think it might be because of the AC adaptor jack, but i'm not sure. any suggestions welcome. THanks.

Last time I saw that kind of problem it was a bad hard drive. If the hd is on a sled pop it out and see if you can post without it.
