Original HDD is 6 GB. Bought a new 40 GB Samsung HDD, cloned it by attaching by USB and using Casper XP. Installed new HD and laptop ways no hard drive. Put original HDD back in laptop and still get message no hard drive. How do I get the laptop to recognize at least one hard drive?

Make sure the cable is installed correctly and the drive doesn't have any bent pins.
Make sure the Master/Slave plugging is correct.
Make sure that the bios recognizes the different drive when it's connected.
If the drive doesn't spin, check the power connector.
