Compaq Evo N180

My laptop wont power up! The light shows its plugged in. The battery is charged. But when i hit the power button to turn it on nothing happens. There are no blinking lights and no noise. The machine is very much dead.

The power button when pressed feels like its making contact.

The machine wasnt dropped, nothing was spilled on it and hasnt been showing any signs of dying hardware.

What could be wrong with it?
