Message: Hi guys, need some help here. I am not a computer person at all. My laptop wont start up all the way. Most times it lets me put in my password but wont finish loading from that screen. I took it to best buy for them to look at it. It turns out the warrenty expired 13 days. They looked at it quickly and said most likely it is the motherboard. The guy said it is $528 for a new one. I quickly said goodbye to him. I tried doing a system restore myself and nothing changed. Still wont properly load. Computer works fine in safe mode. any ideas?

If the computer works fine in safe mode then it isn't the motherboard. Sounds like a graphics driver issue.
Go to the HP site and download all the drivers for your Laptop.
You should be able to boot into Safe Mode with networking.
While you are in Safe Mode go to Device Manager and see if all your hardware is working properly.

Hello shopgirl ,
I think you need to do a start-up repair , this tutorial from bleeping computers explains howhttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tut...
You may also not have a Full install disk , so this will do .
http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windo...Nb. you do not need to use a torrent downloader for this disc just
double click on the down loaded link and select the browser of choice .
Some people have reported problems when they have burned this disk with Nero , I have had no problems with Vista's burner or Cdburnerxp ,
just slow the burn speed down a bit ,If start-up repair does not do it for you try system restore .
