Subject: Laptop won't boot--just beepsOS: Win XP ProCPU/Ram: P4 3.2GHz/Model/Manufacturer: HP Pavillion zd8000 |
Comment: Hey all. Yesterday, I posted asking for help with a battery problem. Unfortunately, my laptop will no longer even boot...every time I hit the power button, it turns on and just beeps twice while the power indicator flashes. I can't even boot from CD, so it's gotta be a serious issue. I'm not real worried about data loss (just made a complete backup 2 days ago, thank god), so I'm open to any ideas. I called HP today and they're telling me to ship it in, but I just thought I'd see what your thoughts were :). Thanks for the help... --Max

Reply: (edit)well you can probably Google beep code for ______ and figure out the error message. also if ur power conector did break of, its an easy fix with a few conector from radio shack or an auto supply store. you can open the comp, remove the old conector and solder on 2 lead wires, cut them at about 2 inch and feed them out the back of your comp...put a conector that u can buy at radio shack or something them and do the same to the charger end cutting off the old conector. Did it to my moms Compaq works like a charm and hp was gonna charge 300 to fix it. back up your back up...i just lost 300 gigs of "back up" and i don't have the originals for a lot of it.

Reply: (edit)O_O Considering I have 4 year full coverage on that thing...I think I'll let them take care of it. But, uh, thanks for the info...of course, considering their track record I may be better off following your suggesstion -_-.

Reply: (edit)Cleaning and reseating your ram can also solve the problem. A portable computer being moved around all the time can easily have items vibrate or be jolted loose and not be seated properly.
