This Laptop is a HP DV2000, it will not boot. I can't change the Product ID above. But anyways all of the "Quick Play" lighs are on. The display remains blank, also the DVD burner will spin up. Still the PC isn't booting. I suspect it's the motherboard. Any thoughts or suggestions??
Thanks
Rick

Try to boot a live cd or other bootable cd/dvd to try. Set bios to boot from that drive. And/or use bootable usb to try.

Can you access bios?

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Try an external monitor. If it works you're probably looking at a failed LCD Screen.

If you sometimes get display but it won't stay lighted, probably LCD Backlight inverter/ Backlight Fluorescent bulb or both.

Shine a bright light on the LCD after starting the Laptop, and determine if You can see the normal Display.

There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.

I can't copy the link to the post. Just search this forum for "lights on no action".
