Laptop wont boot up

Hi
I have Inspiron 1300 and the unit will not bootup I get the error after running the test code:1000-0141 no drive detected , so I remove the hard drive and tested it with the aid of external enclosure, it appears their isn't any data in it 0 objects is it possible for a HD to be totally erased?

It's possible. Is this your machine or someone else's? The drive could have gone bad, which would prevent access to the data when connecting it to another computer.

Is the computer still covered under Warranty? If you're not sure, go to Dell's Support site and enter the ST. You can view the Warranty information there.

Yes is a Friend's laptop.

No warranty.

I asked before I purchase a new HDD, that is not the board.

Hello, i have a Tosh. S205-6337. The laptop will not boot. It will load up to the Microsoft Corporation Loading script and will restart and it repeats this cycle until it just shuts down entirely. I've ran the Vista Repair Apps to correct malfunction but i'm not getting anywhere! Also when running the wizard it does mention the connection of a camera/ or a music player may have caused the error.
