I was recently given a Sharp PC-9000. The problem is when I power up, the laptop runs through it's initial checks but then it freezes. It shows System RAM, Extended Ram, Cache RAM, System Bios shadowed, Video Bios shadowed and finally UMB upper limit segment address: F62F then it freezes.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx!

It sounds like some sort of a hardware problem. Faulty RAM or HDD. Check if the Laptop has any additional RAM fitted, remove it and try again. I know Laptop's can be very fiddly but if you can open it, check that all connection, and add on boards are fitted probably. I had once a Laptop given to me which was dead. I opened it and found that the Display cable came out of it's socket. Easily done, dropp it once and something won't work or gets dislodged.
