laptop water damage?

my compaq pesario laptop got water inside it and no longer works,will not turn on,can it be fixed?Is there a breaker switch?Any one please help with next step.Thanks.

If an elctronic unit gets west, you must not turn it on until you are absolutely sure it is all dried out. If you do that, the odds are pretty good that it will still work. If you didn't wait until it was dry, the odds are excellent that damage was done.

I should also add that the computer was in Stand by mode when it got wet, it was found off.Is there a reset switch like the old computers used to have?What most likely shorted out?

Summary: the only way to find out is to power it on... I would wait a day or two though... Does your mother have an extended warranty with accidental damage coverage? Sehe might want to conatact her laptop man...
