I got a gateway laptop in nov 05, it has been working great up until now. As of late the monitor has been having some major problems. The video cuts out and there is major color distortion, The problem can be remedied by placing pressure on a certain part of the laptop, or propping up one side of the laptop to put pressure on the other side, then the distortion goes away. I was wondering if this is a problem that can be easily fixed or do I need some sort of hardware replacement?

I have the same problem with my gateway 450x laptop. I've sent in for repair 4 times and within a month of getting it back it the problem starts back up again.
One of the times i recieved it back from repair the problem description was "damage to motherboard cause by too long of screw." I don't know if this has been the cause of all 4 times but its definatly a hardware problem.
The vid card thats in my laptop is a ATI 9000 Mobility.
I've been run around by gateway tech support so many times i've decided to use my laptop until it dies then NEVER buy another gateway again.
