Specs: Windows XP, 2Gb
At the moment I have a laptop with external screen connected by DVI. My laptop also has a VGA port.
Can I connect another screen to this or will the GPU not support it?
The alternative is to get a USB to DVI / USV to VGA adapter and connect the 3rd screen that way?
GPU: nvidia geforce go 6800

It depends on how the Laptop is configured.
Some machines with both VGA and DVI ports will only allow one to be connected at any one time. The only thing I can recommend to do to find this out is to just try it!

Otherwise, yes, a USB-> VGA dongle would work fine.
