Laptop VERY slow

Specs: Windows Vista
Hello and thank you for your help.

I have a toshiba satellite A205-S5825. At the bottmo there is a link to the cmputer Im referencing.

Ive used this for over a year now. I've never really shut it off but rather just close the screen and let it sleep until i use it again.

Ove rhte course of the year it's becoming a very slow machine. It'll freeze randomly and take a long time to even open a folder.

I do not have the recovery disc, if I did I'd start fresh and format everything.

I have ran a spam/spyware cleaner which hasnt helped at all.

Im wondering, could this be a hrdware problem? De to the constant running of the machine ?

If not, and without the use of a recovery form at disc what would you suggest I do ? If possible I'd rather not buy a whole new OS and start fresh.

Thanks again .

If it's running kinda warm, it might need a cleaning.

There's some help at the following web page on "Using the Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility from the recovery partition"
