Laptop shuts down when battery is

probelm laptop starts up goes in to windows ok,but when battery is inserted it shuts down... when i try to start up with ac adapter the pluged in and battery in slot,laptop flickers to start and shuts down...battery led doesn't show any apearence... Any help would be appreciated...

It's a current problem caused by one of 2 possibilities:
1)If the battery is old and shot it will act like a short ciurcut and pull more current than the power supply gives and the computer shuts down.
2) the is a weak link in the power supply somewhere and the added current draw from a charging battery overcomes the current input to the computer. Check the power jack for tightness and good connection... give it the "wiggle" test. Wiggle the plug fromm side to side, up and down, with the computer booted up, and see if you can cause it to cut out. If so then bring it in for power jack replacement.
