Laptop shuts down automatically during bootup

January 7, 2011 at 11:45:21
Specs: Windows 7, 2.0/2gb

My laptop shuts down automatically soon after bootup, but after BIOS, when I press the power button nothing happens, I can't restart the system without unplugging the power cable or removing the battery. I have tried to start the system without the battery but nothing happened.

I'm using Lenovo 3000 Y410.

I have seen this issue a lot. One thing you can try it disconnect the battery and run it on AC only and see if it does the samething. The other thing you can try is finding a friend or neighbor that has the same charger and check to see if it is the charger. Another thing you can try is remove the hard drive and either test it in another machine or use a bootcd to from and see if it can boot to that.

The last thing and I hope it is not that, is there could be an issue with the motherboard. I was working on an HP and it was the Graphics processor built into the motherboard that overheated and now was malfunctioning. If it is the motherboard the cost is about $100-150 and possibly even more, this is not including labor. If it comes to this I would check to see if you still have a warranty on the laptop.
