Brand new... It's under warranty... Don't mess about or waste your time - use the warranty and ask for a replacement immediately. It's not fit for the purpose for which it was sold (as it would be described more or less in UK consumer law).

If you have any personal files on it, copy them to external storage immediately - DVD at least; ideally to an external (usb) hard drive too if possible.

And also develop the habit of duplicating all important personal files (whatever they may be) to external storage; so that if per chance you do have problems in the future your personal data is already safeguarded off the system.

And when you do have a properly working computer again - make the recovery set of DVDs - which most people don't and later which they had...

Hi Caboose, the laptop should NOT vibrate anytime.

Is it possible you are placing it in Low Power State (by clicking on the POWER BUTTON icon)

As opposed to selecting SHUT DOWN (after clicking on the RIGHT ARROW icon)
This is a common mistake.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Something doesn't add up, a 3 day old laptop wouldn't be running Windows 8.1. Where did you buy this from?

I noticed that, but am not sure it is a factor, as not everyone is convinced W10 is a step forward, even with newly supplied PC's, as there are far too many problems with it.

Hi Mike,

True but it still would have come with Windows 10. If he downgraded to 8.1 that could be a factor in why it's having issues.

Either way though, as trvlr said, it should be sent back under warranty.
