my Dell Inspiron laptop has been doing this weird thing lately for i dont know what reason, but the screen will start flickering an then slowly fade to black, but not completely black, just black enough for u to still barely see whats on the screen. When i move the laptop lid back and forth it either makes it better or makes it worse, and if i restart my computer it most the time fixes it for a little while but goes back to doing the same after a while
It is likely the cable from the mainboard to screen is frayed and needs replacing, if you go to Dell Support you can download the manual for the laptop...
This happened to me on Latitude 610m laptop until the screen would no longer stay "on" for more than a minute or two. So, I started using my sister's Inspiron 600m. No problems on that one until yesterday when I started getting the same issue. What is the chance that the same problem could be affecting both of my computers? I really think there is some sort of software issue or setting that is creating this issue. I read somewhere about it being a microsoft .net issue. Is that possible?
Boot up into BIOS and if the screen dims you know it's nothing to do with windows. A failing backlight sounds more likely
