Laptop screen blank

Specs: Windows 7
We have a Compaq CQ60-615DX that is about 17 months old. No issues with it until yesterday. My husband last used it the afternoon before & it was working fine. We tried turning it on yesterday and the screen will not come on. The fan turns on & you hear all the normal "whirring" noises. The Power Button Light & WiFi Button Lights are on. There are two little LED lights on at the front of the computer the power & a lightning bolt. There is also a little light where the power cord plugs into the unit.

I have tried the whole disconnecting of the power sources & pressing the power button, but that is not doing anything. I tried connecting our PC monitor to the laptop & as soon as it is connected the PC monitor goes into Sleep Mode.

Any thoughts?

Also, after sitting here all night the battery was dead, so I assume it was running.

Pause on the ‘Power’ button

Hold on the ‘Power’ button for at least 30 seconds, after taking out your system’s battery and removing its AC adapter cord.

Reconnect your laptop

Once you hold on the ‘Power’ button for 30 seconds, reconnect your laptop to the wall power as pausing on the power button drains any static electricity causing the black screen.

Replace the battery

Mostly, a worn out battery causes the black screen of your laptop. You should replace it with a newer one.
