Laptop screen black if open up past 45 Degree

Specs: Windows Vista

Its as if the screen thinks the laptop is closed. If I open it to 40 degrees it works. I can see the screen (all be it from a weird angle). But if I open it past 45 degrees it goes dark. I can still barely see the image on the screen. Just no light behind it. It seems to me this is a physical problem with the hinges that turn it off when opened.

Anhy ideas? Thanks

If you are not confident of your ability to dis-assemble and re-assemble the unit then take it to a tech to have the internal graphics cable/connectors checked and replaced. It certainly sounds like there is a break in the ribbon cable.
