" am trying to reboot my laptop from the cd "
"and can not log on to safe mode. Or any mode. "

These 2 statements have nothing to do with each other.

are you trying to boot from a cd ? yes or no??
what cd are you trying to boot from?

If you're trying to boot from the cd, make sure your cd/dvd drive is the first boot device in cmos/bios setup.

If you're having problem booting from the hard drive, start tapping F8 before the OS starts to load and choose 'safe mode' or another boot option that shows in the menu.

Just to say that reboot simply means powering off your computer then powering it on again. We are assuming you want to do a factory restore or windows re-install.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
