I'm not sure where to post this so I apologize if it's the wrong forum.

I have a laptop and is planning to upgrade the memory on it. I currently have 512mb installed and would like to upgrade to 1gb.

I plan to buy the ram on ebay and found some 1gbs at excellent prices. The rams are manufactured by the company, http://www.legacyelectronics.com/

Anybody here heard of or have experiences with these rams? Are they good?

Where else have you shopped for RAM? Where in the world are you located? I have issues with buying from Ebay and unknown companies. What if the RAM isn't compatible or is defective.

I've looked at a couple places but their prices costs an arm or leg...I checked the RAM and they are compatiable with my laptop. I just want to know if that specific brand is worth buying...even at their attractive price.

i say buy it, if the ram is good then you got a good deal, if the ram is bad then dont feel bad because you got a good deal on it and just buy some different ram.
Granted, with a generic ram company you dont really know what to expect. I prefer the top 3, Micron, Kingston, and Corsair.

There are 10 types of people in the world, those who know binary, and those who don't.

There is a difference of opinion here. I say junk is not worth the price you pay for it. Worse than that though is when dealing with an unknown vendor that you could get scammed or worse. Buying second tier RAM isn't worth it at any price. Buy the Value RAM from a reputable vendor. If the deal sounds to good to be true, you know the rest.

Thank you for all your help. I decided not to get the ram from that company.

Any opinions of Crucial and Samsung RAM? The only reason I am shopping on ebay is because I'm only a student..I can't afford stuff in retail stores..not with the tuition fees they have here. :(

I asked you before where you lived. If you are in the USA you can buy from many reputable online vendors. How much was the memory you were thinking about? What I suggest you do is this. I suggest you download and run a free utility called Everest Home edition. This can tell you the exact memory that you currently have. Then you get memory with the same specs. Whoops. Sorry. I live in Canada. I said I have 512mb installed. It's two 256mb installed. I plan to get 2 512mbs or a 1gb if I can find one for cheap.

Then I suggest you post a new thread asking for canadian vendors for memory. Before you do that, find out what kind and how much memory you can install in this computer. The program I mentioned should identify the model and brand. Go to the makers website and download a manual, if you don't have one.
