My computer is running incredibly slow. I've got good anti-virus, firewall and spyware removal software which I run and update regularly. I think I need more RAM on my laptop. It is a Toshiba Satellite 1800 Series with only 112mb RAM. I've checked all other possibilities, icluding closing all unwanted background programmes, running checkdisk, defrag too. Also got Memturbo installed. Have got rid of unwanted processes in Task Manager. Any advice on other steps or on a RAM upgrade??? Please help. I am typing this I am experiencing high levels of Desk-Rage and am about to launch this PC out of 16th floor window.

Yes, you should have at least 256mb of ram to run XP, 512 would be better. But, from you're post you sound like this is something new. Has it recently gotten worse, or has it always been this slow?

0. Get more ram.
1. Ensure the system is scumware free.
2. Run chkdsk /r and defrag the laptop.
3. But don't forget it's still a 1GHz celly.

Do not type anything in this space.

I don't know what Memtubo is but I doubt it is halping the cause. Most likely just using resources. As was stated WinXP needs more RAM than what you have. Take care geeting RAM of the correct density as well as capacity. Use the Kingston or Crucial.com configurators.
