I just opened my laptop to see if the memory could be upgraded. the RAM chips look like and have the same number of pins as SODIMMs like PC100, etc but they say EDO on them, like some SIMMs do. so what are?? SODIMMs like PC100 or some form of SIMMs (same shape, pins, etc as SODIMMs but say EDO on them)??? CPU-Z wont say. if i upgrade it does it need SODIMMs or what?? PC66 or PC100?? it is a P1 at 266mhz. thanx.

You are the best judge of this, since I don't know what laptop you are talking about. kingston.com and crucial.com plus other memory manufacturer sites have memory selector "tools" on thier web sites to help you find out what kind of memory you can install in many different makes and types of computers.

Either go to somewhere like the Crucial or the Kingston site and look up your computer, or go right to the people who made it---

They made EDO DIMMs and EDO SODIMMs as well as the more common EDO SIMMs. If you want to upgrade, you ought to be able to move from EDO to PC100. What is your laptop's motherboard chipset?
