My mothers Dell Inspiron 6000 has been having some problems lately. The laptop won't turn on, when you press and hold the power button the power led blinks until its released. I try to the same thing while its plugged into the power cable and I get no lights or anything

Sounds like the DC jack.

Is the battery charged or dead?

Don't take it to best buy or anything its usualy about $300 there. Try looking in your paper or local ads. It can be done for 90-150$
