Hi guys :)
A friend has asked me to ask for some advice.
He has an Acer laptop and he left it open on the floor while he answered the door and his toddler son fell backwards on to the keyboard and it powered off.
Now.....when you try to power it on the power light comes on but that's it! No beeps, no screen, just the green power light!
Sometimes it will stay on but then sometimes it stays on for about 30 secs and it powers off again.
We have tried re-seating the CPU, RAM and HDD but to no avail!

Sounds like there was some damage done. It is possible it could be a software issue. To determine that you could run a live version of Linux from a CD. If it still acts the same then it is hardware related.
Knoppix is one such Linux version. Knoppix is free but a large download. Google for Knoppix. A pre-made CD can also be purchased for just a few dollars.
