laptop power is on but no display

yesterday my laptop is ok.. I'm chatting with my friends but after a few minutes my laptop shut off then when i open it again the power is on but no display on monitor and no sound.. please help me with my problem

How about a bit more info., please. Are you running on battery? If so, is it charged sufficiently to run the system? Is there hard drive activity? Have you turned OFF and then started?

It might have overheated. Let it sit for an hour or so, and then try it again.
